Joan has been creating since she wrote her first story at age 12 and had her first poem published in her early twenties. Over the years she has expanded her interest to include stone carving, painting, photography and various crafts.
Since returning to the east coast (she is originally from Newfoundland), she has been concentrating on creating what she refers to as Functional Art pieces. Working with resin and wood to create cheese/charcuterie boards and cutting boards. Her knits include tube socks and baby items such as hats, mittens and blankets.
Using her own moulds which she makes on a 3D printer Joan has made items such as Celtic coasters, trivets and other items. Her current projects include river tables, coffee tables and hanging art pieces.
Working from her studio in West Lake Ainslie, she is happy to welcome visitors to her future open houses.
